BB's Lawnside BBQ

BB's Lawnside BBQ is "Not Renovated" and "Under Old Management"... and thank the Blues AND Barbeque gods for blessing Kansas City with Lindsey Shannon, the "old management" that hasn't renovated BB's Lawnside BBQ! Both the BBQ and the Blues that are served up at BBs are smokin'! From local Blues jams to national Blues acts, you can always count on great music, cold beer, and tasty barbeque at BB's Lawnside BBQ.

Lindsey is also the host of the Kansas City Blues Show every Sunday night on 101.1 FM KCFX, where he has been introducing the Blues to rockers for over 16 years. His dedication to the Blues is legendary, and he hosts several benefits each year, helping everyone from the families of deceased Blues musicians to battered women shelters.

BB's Lawnside BBQ is located at 1205 East 85th Street, Kansas City, MO 64131. Call (816) 8BB-RIBS to place to-go orders or see who is playing. You can also check out BB's Lawnside BBQ's web site at www.bbslawnsidebbq.com

Blayney's is located at 415 Westport Road, Kansas City, MO 64111 Call (816) 561-3747 for more info. You can also check out Blayney's web site at www.blayneys.com

Knuckleheads Saloon

Knuckleheads is our newest addition to our featured clubs listing, but Frank and the crew have really earned it. They picked up the slack when the GE went "martini bar" on us Blues Addicts, bringing in national acts like Roomful of Blues, Michael Burks, Janiva Magness, Anthony Gomes, Watermelon Slim, Chris Duarte, and Leon Russell.

Knuckleheads is a challenge to find, located at 2700 Rochester, Kansas City, MO 64120. Our best advice is to visit www.KnuckleheadsKC.com and check out their directions, or call them at (816) 483-6320.

The Grand Emporium
R.I.P.

Bonnie Riatt & Roger NaberFrom 1985 to 2004, The Grand Emporium served up national, regional, and local Blues, reggae, rock, zydeco, jazz, and swing music. Twice honored as "Best Blues Club in America" by the Blues Foundation, The GE was known worldwide for their "wall of fame", pictures and playbills of artists who have appeared at this 'Blues Mecca' over the years.

Unfortunately, Roger Naber sold The GE to a rock club owner, who immediately screwed everything up by covering over the "wall of fame" and turning the place into a martini bar. While they occasionally bring in some Blues acts, their schedule and the new "ambiance" gives us the Blues.

Roger Naber, past owner of The Grand Emporium, is the host of the Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise.

The Grand Emporium is located at 3832 Main Street, Kansas City, MO 64111. Call their concert hotline at (816) 531-1504 for more info. You can also check out The Grand Emporium web site at www.grandemporium.com
