Hey everyone! It's time once again to update everyone about all the newest happenings with
Leveetown.
We're in the midst of recording the new album at The Studio in Springfield, MO. The basic tracks are mostly finished. We still need to record overdubs, vocals, and various other parts. We're once again working under the sage-like guidance of Mr. Lou Whitney. Lou has played with seminal
Midwest bands The Skeletons, The Morells, and most recently, Brian Capps. He has made recordings with Wilco, Big Smith, the Bel-Airs, Kristi Stremel, the Supernauts, and many others. Our goal is to have the finished product in hand by May 1st in time for the festival
season.
And speaking of festivals, we'll be participating in several of them this year. A partial list: the Oklahoma Blues Festival in May, the Parkville Blues & Jazz Festival in June, the Bogart Music Fest in July, and the
Anglesea Blues Festival in July. This is only a partial list so keep checking the website and those infamous Q notes for more
updates.
We have a lot of cool gigs coming up soon in and around the KC area. In addition to our regular Thursday night open jam at Blayney's in Westport (9pm-1am), we will be playing most Wednesdays at the Trouser Mouse (8pm-12am). This is also a jam, so musicians bring your axes.
Also at the Trouser Mouse, April 22nd we will be playing with our friends the Supernauts. If you've never heard the Supernauts, you need to. They are, in my opinion, one of the most rockin' units of recent memory. Their drummer John Floyd has expressed some um... interesting theatrical ideas for the show so don't miss
it.
We're also gearing up for another raucous season of debauchery at Winslow's BBQ in the City Market. This weekly Sunday afternoon jam (3pm-7pm) is scheduled to begin May 7th and will continue until the weather gets cold again in the fall. For those of you who have never been to Slow's on a Sunday, it's always a great time with awesome music, food, and people. It's also a bike-friendly establishment and there's lots of cycle parking right out
front.
That's about it for now. Make sure to regularly check our website to keep up with our ever-changing schedule. And while you're there, leave us a message. We love to hear from you guys and check the site daily. Also don't forget to check out Lee McBee on Sundays @ BB's Lawnside BBQ (8pm-11pm), The Nace Brothers
(www.nacebros.com), TUF (check the blues news), and all the other amazingly talented musicians in and around the KC
area.
As always, special thanks to each and every person who comes to our gigs and buys our CD's and makes it possible for us to do what we do. We really appreciate you all more than you
know!!
Peace,
Jan, drums
